New Life Mission
To the Churches of Westmorland-Kent and Albert Baptist Associations
For Immediate Release
Monday, August 31, 2020
We are writing this open letter to officially inform you of the recent Board decision to conclude the ministry of New Life Mission Inc. effective Friday, September 4, 2020. All programing will cease on this date, while all affairs of the Mission will be concluded on or before December 31, 2020.
This decision has not been made lightly, and the current Board members only made it after much prayer, discussion, and anguish. It was a decision that no Board ever wants to make, but it was a decision that we feel we were led to make by God’s Holy Spirit.
In recent months it had become obvious to the Board that the Mission was coming to the end of its mandate. For over thirty-five years New Life Mission has touched the lives and impacted the hearts of children and families in Moncton and, for a time, in Hillsborough. We will never fully know the impact for God that the Mission has had on these individuals.
Many factors led the Board to this decision. Yes, Covid-19 did have an impact on our day-to-day operations, but our ongoing feasibly was impacted by other factors. Competition from other afterschool programs, an increasing lack of volunteers, and ever decreasing donations from both individuals and our churches made the decision to close unavoidable.
A further consideration was the challenges of finding properly trained leaders who could afford to work within our financial reality. Working with children is not an easy calling in today’s world with its many and varied issues that children are being faced with.
Since its founding, the work and focus of the Mission was always sound and relevant to the needs of our cliental, and always rooted in the Christian faith; children were being introduced to Christ. We are certain of the promise of scripture that tells us the word of the Lord never returns void; we will never know the full impact of our work with the children of the Mission.
We are eternally grateful and thankful to the many churches and individuals who have faithfully supported the work of the Mission prayerfully and financially over the years. The work of the Mission really was a faith work, and the Lord always blessed the Mission through all of you! But times are changing, and so must we as we seek to be good stewards of what has been entrusted to us.
Please be in prayer for the staff of the Mission as they begin new work with other organizations. Pray for the children of the Mission as they become involved with other after-school programs. And please pray for the Board of the Mission as it oversees the closing of the Mission in a proper and respectful manner over the next four months.
If you should have any questions, or require clarification on anything regarding this news, please contact any one of the Board members listed with this letter.
Thanking you again for your many years of faithful support – it made a tremendous difference to the children!
